What if other people's doubts keep making me doubt too?

It's a very human experience—the questions and struggles of people close to you can genuinely shake something in your own faith, even when their situation isn't identical to yours. That doesn't mean your faith isn't real; it means faith often isn't purely private and individual.

This is actually part of why Scripture emphasizes staying connected to others, not less connected when things get hard: "let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together... but encouraging each other" (Hebrews 10:24–25). Community is presented as something that helps carry faith through hard seasons, including seasons of doubt.

Jude also gives specific instruction for exactly this situation: "Have mercy on those who waver" (Jude 22)—both toward others whose doubt you encounter, and, it's worth adding, toward yourself when their doubt affects you too.

You can care about someone's honest struggle without adopting it as your own verdict on truth. And you can be affected by it without that meaning your own faith has quietly collapsed.
