Is seeing a therapist a sign that I don't trust God enough?

No—Scripture actually praises seeking wise outside help rather than treating it as a lack of trust.

Proverbs is direct: "Without guidance, a people will fall, but with many counselors there is deliverance" (Proverbs 11:14). Wise counsel from outside yourself is presented as something that saves people, not something faithful people should avoid needing.

Even Moses needed this lesson. When his father-in-law Jethro saw him exhausted from trying to handle everything himself, he said plainly, "What you're doing is not good... You will certainly wear out both yourself and these people who are with you, because the task is too heavy for you" (Exodus 18:17–18). Moses listened and changed course—that's presented as wisdom, not weak faith.

A good therapist is a form of exactly this kind of wise, trained counsel. Using one doesn't mean you've stopped relying on God—it can be one of the practical ways his help actually reaches you, alongside prayer, community, and Scripture, not instead of them.
