Why doesn't God heal amputees?

This is a serious, specific version of the healing question, and it deserves a direct answer rather than a dodge.

There's no medically documented case of a missing limb being restored through prayer, in contrast to other claimed healings—recoveries from illness, pain, or conditions that, while sometimes remarkable, are harder to verify as impossible through natural means, misdiagnosis, or the body's own recovery. That pattern is worth taking seriously rather than explaining away.

Christians respond to this in different ways. Some hold that God could restore a limb but generally doesn't, for reasons we don't fully understand, similar to other prayers that go unanswered. Others are appropriately more cautious about all miracle claims, verified or not, recognizing how hard genuine cases are to confirm either way. This specific, sharper version of the question is fair to ask, and honest Christians don't have a fully satisfying answer to offer beyond admitting the difficulty.
