If a Christian dies by suicide, are they still saved?

Christians hold real, honest differences here. It's worth naming that upfront, rather than pretending there's one settled answer.

Some Christian traditions teach that genuine salvation can't be undone by any single act, including suicide. It rests on God's promise, not a person's final moment. Other traditions teach that a person's response to God matters until the end of their life. They're more cautious about declaring certainty either way for a specific person.

Both sides generally agree on this much: no one is in a position to declare a specific person's eternal fate. Suicide is almost always tied to overwhelming pain, illness, or crisis—not a calm, deliberate rejection of God.
