If God loves everyone, why does he judge people?

A love that never took real wrong seriously wouldn't be much of a love. A parent who never cared how their child treated others isn't showing more love by staying silent. They're showing less care, not more.

Judgment, in Christian teaching, means real actions actually matter. It doesn't mean God enjoys condemning people. The same Bible passages that call God a judge also call him patient, slow to anger, and quick to offer mercy first.

That said, this isn't a painless idea, and pretending it is would be dishonest. A being who's perfectly loving and who also judges people is one of the genuinely harder tensions in Christian theology. It's not a contradiction Christians have fully smoothed over.

Christianity holds both together: real love that takes wrong seriously, and real judgment that isn't eager or careless. Sitting with that tension honestly beats resolving it too quickly in either direction.
