Bible
Are there contradictions in the Bible?
Some passages are genuinely hard to reconcile. Pretending otherwise wouldn't be honest, and it isn't necessary.
But "hard to reconcile" and "contradiction" aren't the same thing. Ancient authors, including the Gospel writers, didn't write biography the way modern journalists do. Compressing timelines, reporting events from different angles, and selecting details for different audiences were normal, accepted practices—not evidence of error.
Some frequently cited examples hold up well once that's taken into account. Others remain genuinely debated even among scholars who take the text seriously. That's an honest answer—not every case resolves neatly.
What matters is examining specific claims rather than deciding in advance that every difference is either fatal or effortlessly explainable.
The Bible itself doesn't pretend to be uniformly easy. It openly admits some of its own content is hard to understand—a strange thing to include if the goal was to look artificially tidy.
