If Christianity is true, why do so many Christians behave no better than everyone else?

Honestly? Because Christians are not always honest, loving, or humble people—and pretending otherwise would make this worse, not better.

But that's three different questions tangled together: whether Christianity is true, whether Christians live it, and whether Christianity excuses the gap. Those don't stand or fall together.

Christianity doesn't teach that becoming a Christian makes you instantly good. It teaches that you're forgiven while still deeply flawed, and that real change is usually slow and incomplete this side of death.

That's not an excuse. The New Testament is harsher about hypocrisy than almost any outside critic—Jesus reserved his sharpest words for religious people who didn't practice what they preached.

So a Christian behaving badly isn't Christianity quietly failing. It's a person loudly failing at something their own faith condemns.

That doesn't make the failure less real. It does mean the failure isn't evidence the whole thing is false.
