Why does God feel silent when I need him most?

God feeling silent doesn't necessarily mean God has left you.

The Bible is surprisingly honest about this feeling. David asks God, “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?” (Psalm 13:1). Even Jesus cried, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” while suffering on the cross (Matthew 27:46).

Sometimes we expect God's presence to feel like peace, an answer to prayer, or a strong emotion. When none of those things happen, silence can feel like absence. But “I can't feel God” and “God isn't there” aren't the same thing.

Christian faith doesn't promise that you'll always feel close to God. And you don't need to hide your anger, confusion, or disappointment from him.

Sometimes faith is simply continuing to reach toward God when he feels far away.
